shadows and the sand

I like your composition and the elements which you and I find very attractive. It is showing up a bit dark on my monitor and  I am sure that you as Artist/Photographer wanted it that way.  This is fine "as is" but I took a stab of how I feel would cause me to want to hang it on my wall.

keeping mind that yours is OK, I did a crop and then did a shadow/Highlight adjustment, a levels and then some selective contrast increase in the foreground sand. I then reduced saturation a bit.  The result is strictly for 'discussion' purposes and I lay no claim that mine is better.
