Gail, few my latest work is fractals. You can search on Google "fractal art".  Also, you can find software related to fractals. Most of them free, some cost little bit. Also, thank you for your comments.

This looks like a visiting alien's portrait and I like the fact that I can interpret something out of an image. In reference to whether it can be called a photo - well Yes and No. Back in the days when they started doing photography with pin hole cameras, and the whole process of making film and then processing it and then contact printing or enlarging (paper, developer, stop bath, fixer and then wash & dry) it was using state of the art chemistry and science. The paper (other mediums existed) was the main product which we called a "photo" which was writing with light.

Then comes digital - your camera is a small computer with a lens.  The process is now to take that computerized image and process it on a computer and then print on an ink jet printer (lots of other different types of printers exist) .

The computer has become a vital  part of the current process. Add photoshop where, for example, you can change the color, add several images to make a montage. Is the result still a photo? Most would say yes but we have coined the term digital alterations to help up in this transition period. When I described the process of taking multiple images of the same scene and then using HDR software to balance out the tones, a friend jokingly told me that I was cheating. I don't agree.

Now when we use the computer to generate fractal images without a lens, can the result be called a photo (writing with light) - probably not. I feel that we should eliminate the word photo and replace it with "Image" or some other term like "Ciemage" to better represent the involvement of computers in the process.

Just my two cents!

You sure are having fun creating these Treats For The Eyes!

This is beautifully composed, with a great choice of colors and forms.  My only suggestion would be to add a little more 'snap' to the red portions for a more pronounced depth effect.

Grigoriy, Wendy previously said it look like a lady with earrings. I see it as a headless victorian woman with the thorax of an insect wearing a hoop skirt and large sleeves. You must be having a great time working on these as they are wonderful fun to view.
