My uncle and aunt. Re-edit of an old shot. This was a grab and I almost missed

it. Also found out years later that the rangefinder probably wasn't calibrated

(see the back focus in this and other shots)! Your comments and suggestions

will be appreciated.

Hi Indraneel:

Your photo shows me that your aunt and uncle have a real connection. She is either singing or telling a story. Either way, I'd like to listen in,  just like your uncle is doing. Her animation really brings life to this photo. The photographic techniques and graininess tell me that this is not a recent photo. Was it taken in the 1970's?

As for the ratings, you just got a 7.

Regards, John

Thank you John for your kind words and rating! I actually like this image, had it up a few years back and it got better ratings for a worse edit...

She was telling something to my mother, very animated... my uncle looked mildly surprised. I don't recollect what was going on, I was too busy fiddling with the camera. This was taken in 2004, I was too young for cameras in the 70's. This was one of my early attempts at split frame composition, something I had just picked up from Cartier Bresson's work. The grain comes from my inept processing techniques... film disappeared before I could become any good at it (it had really disappeared by 2004, but I was too poor for DSLRs). But dodging and burning scanned film is so much more fun.

Good portrait of husband and wife (I suppose). non verbal communication, even body languaage is so dense here. he is like a small boy again. you captured also good contrast of static left part and dynamic right one.

technical quality far beyond reach of digital boxes.

p.s.  she is very charismatic, I would do more portrayal of her, documenting her work during day
