Very nice and interesting composition.  The skull fits well with the nature of the wood (old and twisted), and the contrasting white versus black further adds to the interest.  I'm puzzled a bit by the title, only because I don't see a symbiotic relationship here, except that they both combine to make a great photographic subject.

Highly innovative / creative compo due to the unusual somewhat strange but nevertheless appealing  combination and contrasts of image elements / textures. Moreover, the image elements are positioned / arranged harmonically. Maybe I would like to see a colored version as well (or I would remove the black frame), but b&w fits very well, no doubt.

Great idea - if it was already arranged by someone else and you saw it - very well observed and captured! - if yourself had the idea, congrats!

Remarkable. Striking.

Thank you very much for you comment Stephen! I'm glad you like my presentation of this interesting motif I found while hiking around the Greek countryside.

I used the word symbiosis here in a broader sense referring to how the old olive tree and the skull seam to have found an existential common purpose, whatever that may be... but I agree the title's meaning "strains" under closer scrutiny...

Cheers, Nick

Thank you for your comment Volker.

I am very glad you find the photo interesting!

Aside from the curiosity of the motif I was attracted here by the textures which I managed to pronounce the best in B&W.

Somehow I never managed to produce a satisfying color version...

Thanks again! Cheers, Nick...
