Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 15, 2011 This one works really well, like something out of an old movie. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted February 25, 2011 this old neon motel sign just outside of Charleston. S.C. (not Miami) brings back so many childhood memories of the mom and pop motels scattered all along state and U.S. highways across America ...well before the time of Interstate highways, and chain motels. most of all it reminds me of staying at the Ingleside Motel in Athens, Tennessee...which was managed for several years by my maternal grandparents. In those days,it wasn't uncommon for big name celebrities to drive their families to Florida along this route through Tennessee and stay at motels such as the Ingleside. Although the memories are getting more and more distant, I still recall sitting on Jonathan Winters lap during one his many visits (although I had no idea who he was at the time...I just knew he was the man who made funny faces and sounds, and mad me giggle!), and swimming in the pool with Jamie Lee Curtis when she was just a little, little girl...and her parents, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis were still together. These days can you imagine Tom Cruise and family...staying at a tiny family owned motel? Or could you imagine that even if they did...your kids could get past the entourage and body guards and actually swim with little Suree? Ah, but these were much simpler days...and I miss them! It's difficult to imagine that my children will someday speak fondly of the good old days...including their memories of the Holiday Inn Express they stayed at while in route to the beach! But who knows.... lol ~! Link to comment
