The Virunga Silverback (analog)

Animal life, that is! Looks like he is in his natural environment...takes guts to take picture in such circumstances! Whatever, great persuasive picture of a gorilla's life! Also a portrait of a distinguished supposedly alpha male (if it is a male at all)! Looks nice in B&W!Cheers Wim!

I made this in Kongo former Zaire on a very difficult tour through

the jungle.

He is the male and the boss of the group.

Very big and very gentle.

GREAT capture, Wim. I am an intense animal lover and was so saddened when I recently read in a National Geograhic magazing how the Virunga gorillas are getting murdered because of the need for illegal mining and they are getting in the way. Wim, a great portrait. The black and white tones work very well. I like the expression of it's face and the way the hands are folded. Also the verticals of the bamboo are the perfect touch.
