chris_panagiotidis 0 Posted February 9, 2011 First things first! Congratulations on the POW ! A well merited distinction for an image with lots of personal expressive tools.Your latest submission is sheer revelation! Justina has very expressive eyes and lets us trying to decipher the reason of her astonishment. If there are more than one variations that's a good sign for the photo ! Brilliant! The editing applied is not sophisticated but it is utterly artistic and appropriate for the subjectSerdecznie gratuluje i pozdrawiamChris Link to comment

diver1 0 Posted February 11, 2011 Very beautiful portrait, great use of selective coloring in a black&white, however I feel that only the apple in her hand should have been left in color, the magical part of this photograph is the center area containing the subject's face and the hand holding the apple, the colored apples in the basket seem to draw our attention away from that area, the hand holding the basket does seem to have more volume than the other one, again the colored apples in the basket also draws our attention to that, if the hand was more below the basket and farther back it wouldn't appear as much, despite that it's still a lovely portrait and it's a cut above the rest. GerrySiegel 868 Posted February 14, 2011 I like the muted tones and the use of coloring on the apples is a natural choice. I especially like that they are not perfect polished apples. Use of a normal instead of long lens gives an intimacy that I like. You know, this could be any of our grandmothers from Eastern Europe in the early 20th Century, so it rings a bell. Of course it helps to have a real genuine model young girl who can act the part and express herself to your camera. I like it, well done...Aloha to you, as always, Gerry Link to comment
perry_cas 0 Posted February 17, 2011 I always enjoy this style of bw colour manipulation. I think the idea of the colour extending only so far from the apples was a good one. It might be, however, that a reduced colour could have extended from her chest to her face as her face looks a bit blue by comparison. Link to comment
