Met this guy and friend (shutter) back when I thought that I had to

shoot everything at f2.8. That explains why the snakes head is not as

sharp as it could be. Purposely did the sky white (in the wet

darkrooms print I used to bleach it) but tried to keep the subjects

tonal...no blowen out hot spots. Interesting eyes on the guy huh ;>]

Indeed. While the angle of the initial execution was interesting, it doesn't compare to your cropped and non-sepiad version.

Excellent portrait.

Fantastic job in post. The crop makes more of an improvement over the original than perhaps any I've seen. My only gripe is with the eyes. You're idea was great, but I think you went a little far with the whites. cheers

Interesting composition - with the arm. I like the use of line, but the wrist band fights the other lines in the arrangement. I would also like to see this a little bit darker.

Where DO you find these guys? Venice Beach, yes... but Vancouver, BC? Once again, beautiful lighting. Mmmm and maybe I would want this one on my wall.

Nicely done. I really like the composition of this photo. A lot of people may have cropped off his arm, but it looks great. I also like the brilliant white background.

Aparently you have been to the zoo a lot. After seeing the comment that you left on my page I wanted an opportunity to respond. Vigneting - bad contrast, compositional faux pas, poor subject matter and dire need of a lesson in toning. I am by the way being kind.

I have not assesed your work as I am upset but not vindictive.

You are really the king of PS. Interesting to see original and the work on the eyes. Nice surgery.

Many are not going to like the cropping in this shot...I hope you cropped it to give the viewers eye the idea of strangulation. That's what the cropping does. On any other shot, I'd say it sucked. With this subject matter it is perfect.

Wonderfully cropped portrait - I would have liked to see his skin tones a little less bright however. Otherwise expression, pose, are perfect.

The photo captured a piercing look, not to mention a rare, unfamiliar moment for most viewers. All elements prompt to the stable eye expression of the subject, creating a sense of owe, perhaps of shock...The masculine posture of the subject balances and soothes the situation, giving us a good sense of the familiarity between the man and the snake. The snake with its more-or-less negative connotation within common perception yields the staggering contrast that, in my opinion, inspired the photograph to be taken. All in all, rare features, rare photograph.

Absolutely love this composition. Little too much brightness in the eyes for me. This photo definitely deserve the 7/7 I'm ranking it. Great Job!!! Sincerely, christopher

This photograph and the message it gives me is terrible, scary, final. I'm not sure who is more demonic in it, the man with those eyes that pierce my very soul or the snake smirking at me. To appease the both of them I award this a 7 and a 7, plus promise that I will only look at baby and flower photographs for the rest of the day.
