This is an excellent landscape photo, aesthetic, meaningful, effective and "equipped" with a sensitive b&w editing. A powerful stillness is conveyed to the viewer by this image, hence it can be a great scene for meditation about time and space.

Stunning! It is hard to describe what I like about this image -- because there are so many. The serenity, the gentle tonality, the strong horizontal design, the almost abstract framing, the atmospherics. I hope this is an image that would stand up for a very large print. It should be printed in about a 3 foot by 4 foot size.

Very striking b&w landscape. The clearing fog gives more drama to the reflection in this well composed scene. Regards!

Zslot:  The low ratings are more a reflection of the raters on PN than on the quality of the work rated. Pay them little mind.

Beautiful b/w image Zsolt.  I really like the composition here and your processing looks great.  This should be rated higher in my opinion, but as time goes on, I realize how irrelevant the ratings actually are.  Keep up the good work.

I've been on this site for a good number of years and have come to realize that about a scant 1% of those here are really good at their craft and have work that I find inspiring -- some, very inspiring. The rest are mostly chaff with occasional wheat. I think most of the ratings come from the chaff side of the house. Those who take the time to actually critique an image are very helpful. Those who rate (and I used to be one of them) are not contributing as much. You can get out of this site what you are willing to put in. I correspond with several photographers here and have actually traveled to meet one of them.

This image from Zsolt is a prime example of a superb effort that is not recognized as such by the chaff. At the same time that group will give high marks to someone who simply captures a post card shot of a beautiful place, whose only talent was the ability to drive a car to that spot.

Years ago when I taught photography and was a working photographer, I told my students that they had finally arrived when someone looking at the image would recognize by the image who the photographer was. Just as painters and other artists' works can be recognized immediately, it is true of photographers. We have no trouble recognizing an Ansel Adams print -- not because of the subject, but because of the treatment of that subject. Of the tens of thousands of pictures taken of Yosemite, we would recognize Ansel's work immediately.

That piece of the creative mind of the photographer that is stamped upon the image is what makes the work for me.
