The photograph is from near my campsite on the south ridge of Oregon's

Three Fingered Jack peak. It's a long day or two days backpacking to

reach it. A storm was clearing and there I was, at sunset, sitting

just above the clouds on my own mountain island in the sky, not

another soul for miles.

My eye zigs and zags with the light.  Nothing more beautiful that trees and mountains pasted with snow and frozen fog.  The textures are really sweet in this, and the warm/cool tones perfect.  I get a warm fuzzy feelinging despite the cold conditions.

This is a very classy landscape Marc! The comp is sterling, almost as though you had scouted this at a previous time and waited for the optimum conditions. The way the small drift at the base of the small conifer mirrors the ridgeline leading up to the peak is compelling. Simple, yet captivating!!

Thanks everyone for your generous comments.  I really got lucky on this evening.  It had been a long time coming for me and this mountain.

I love your perspective. The lighting is quite special, a fleeting moment I am sure. The detail is gorgeous.
