Hi Tm,

This is a gorgeous image, with beautiful colors!

I wondered though - and I hope that you do not mind me saying so - is it possible that noise reduction flattened out a bit the faces and the textures of the fabrics ? I ask because I am wrestling sometimes myself with this issue. Best regards. Karin.

Thanks Andrew!

Thanks Karin! I actually like constructive crritiques and comments such as yours. I had the exact same thought when I look at the closest lady after I posted the photo but I did not go back and check. Well, since you are asking, I've just checked and it does seem to smooth up some (probalby about 10-15%) from the original image. This shot is a fullsize shot and if I view it at 100% then the imperfection of the skin shown very well but if I do a fit to screen and view then it's very much just like the posted image. Since I shoot bird a lot I know very well about noise reduction tend to flatten the image at times (very noticable with snowy white egret) and in those cases I selectively select just the egret , do an inverse selection and run noise reduction on just the background. The same can be done with people shot, you can select certain areas that you want to retain details, do an inverse selection and run noise reduction on the rest of the image.
