Welcome to your new piece of art! I'm glad to be the first to comment your new shot!

I think this is a beautiful composition: the complex geometry of this small tree really amazes me and the background makes the subject really stand out... And finally the light (I suppose provided by the sun) gives this photo the perfect touch.

Congratulations, Jeff: this is a wonderful artistic shot!

Alberto, thanks. This was taken right on sunset on a windy point. This bush has been blasted by salt air and sand for years and still remains beautiful. It is a limestone island with very poor soil which has some amazing vegetation. It said a lot to me about survival in a harsh environment.

The touch of pastel orange color from the sunset really breathes life to the old twisted bush. Wonderful shapes, lines and textures. And of course, it brings to mind a story of survival, I have seen similar bushes on sun-perched island of Crete, it is amazing to see this kind of perseverance.

Thanks Peter, I hesitated before posting this. I like it a lot but it's probably not going to get a lot of attention.

For me,it's a beautiful image, from a single and simple object you  have seen/captured a nice nature scene,I like the soft light a bit pink modelling the subject, the only thing that maybe dictract me a bit is this dust at the bottom of the image.Regards

Your  feelings of doubt for the impact of this one might be selling it a bit short.  This is the type of shot that slowly grows on you.  I first came upon it a couple of weeks ago and like it even more today.  Though it would also excel in black & white the very subtle colours of the earth and the pastel orange highlights from the sun put this one over the top for me.  An argument could also be made for a diagonal composition but this one fills a vertical frame nicely too.  Any subject as rich in textures and fine lines as this one deserves to be displayed, preferably nicely framed and on a wall.  Had I been with you I'm sure I too would have stopped to explore this subject and expend a frame or two on it.  Whether I would have been as successful as you is a question we'll never know the answer to.  Always a pleasure to view your latest.  (in lieu of any recent posts your archives will do)  Best, LM.

Simplicity, mystery, and beauty. Perfect light for this motif. Holds my interest for a long time. Must be great to look at hanging on the wall as large print :-)
