This is a very nice capture of wives, made better for the very light texture that the water has produced.

This is a truly amazing composition and exposure.  It is ever so spooky and ethereally moody.  I do want to share with you my personal opinion about the very, very bright and garishly colored patina on the rock at lower-left.  In my opinion, it really draws the eye to that corner, and detracts from the mood and space of the image.  In other words, for me, I want the eye to just gently flow from the bottom of the image out across the rocks and off to the horizon and that great sky.  I really don't know what can be done (short of cropping), I just wish it wasn't there.  Regardless, a very beautiful photograph, Lester!  Well done!  Cheers!  Chris

Pierre, thanks for dropping by once more with your comment.

Chris, frankly I missed noticing this one while viewing it on the viewfinder before I took the shot. I decided to leave it as is and wait for comments rather than cloning it out. Thanks for your keen observation and sharing your thoughts.

Best regards! - Lester

You are making fine use of the 10 stop filter, the long exposure coupled with the excellent composition makes this a winner!

Sincere Compliments

Lester, another lovely shot! I have been thinking about using a "big stopper" however as I shoot medium format film I don't have the luxury of trial and error as you digital shooters :-), just wondered if you could give some general tips on using this extreme filter? Thanks.

Thanks for your interest on this image. The filter I used was a B+W  77mm #110  3.0 (1000X) Neutral Density Glass Filter. This is a screw-in type filter. For this particular image the meter on 'Manual Mode' read a 1 sec exposure for f13 aperture using spot metering mode for the stone. This was metered without the filter yet because you won't be able to see anything with it. Knowing that this was a 10-stop filter, I went back in exposure time to 30 seconds. Bracketed exposure for a 30', 25' and a 20' exposure. Placed the filter after a pre-focus then pressed the shutter via a remote shutter release.

Best regards! And I saw your fantastic landscapes in your gallery webpage.
