michaellinder 16,611 Posted January 29, 2011 The symbolism of this photograph is extraordinary. The philosopher Baruch Spinoza spoke of natura naturata, referring to existence following necessarily from the very nature of God. From this point of view, the photograph addresses the creation of the world. The shells in a circle around a dead tree in the foreground, with the church in the background, indicate that God-in-nature, rather than housed in an artificial edifice, is the very essence of religious belief. Perhaps, the dead tree also hints at a Marxist interpretation. This photograph went immediately into my "Favorites". I must revisit it many times.michael Link to comment

alfbailey 1 Posted January 30, 2011 You have epitomised your own style to the extent that I now know a "Pierre" without having to look at the name. In your unmistakable and orginal style, you have delivered a symbolic religious gathering, through which the surreal nature begs questions of faith and belief. Always thought provoking and creative!Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
