Excellent. Perhaps shooting from a lower angle would show the wasp's left eye (right one for the viewer) fully? Right now it is obstructed by the out-of-DOF antenna. However, perhaps the desired plane-of-focus would be lost that way --
phantastic ... unbelievable quality
WOW! This is a great shot! The only thing I wish for is to see the entire right antenna.
Great detail & color. Nice work.
Amazing what you can do with so little equipment!
Depth of field GREAT shot. Absolutely LOVE it. Just wish you could get a little more depth of field so eyes would be in more focus. And if you could move in a perfect middle to see both eyes. Just my opinion.
You really are a master in bug shots. Try to get a book published!
Quite possibly the best picture of a wasp I have ever seen. Superb work, Mark!
This one is absolutely stunning, Mark. One of your very best, I believe...
Wonderful colors, really crisp. As always I admire your bug work. A true master. Thanks for sharing Mark.
Outstanding This is macro photography at its best.
Genious! And again one of these wonderful creatures, you bring near to us in this macro-way......Thanks so much, Mark! You're simply genious!
Mark Wonderful wasp image. Colors are right on. Now I can see my tormentor up close and personal. Ouch ! I like the idea of a book as mentioned above.
very creative, technically and artisticly
Stunned !! All these bug pictures are amazing - especially considering the equipment you used. *I* have a Pentax 50mm f1.4 lens myself, and a digital camera. I don't think I'm going to take bug pictures - but you have shown me that this sort of photography is possible. Thank you for opening up a technique I hadn't thought of !!

Your work is amazing!!...all of it! I never knew they ate fruit.
I can hardly believe what I see. I'm staring at the beauty of a wasp's head. At the very color pattern. Does that amaze you? It amazes me a lot! Some more dof would make me print this and go show to people at the mall. As it is, I'll just HIGLY recommend people to visit photonet and enjoy.
One of my favorites in your portfolio. Keep it up, and if you are ever in Houston there are a couple of guys down here ready to buy you a cold one for the inspiration you have given us. Kudos!
seriously when Michael and I have been out shooting, these guys tend to get irritated as we approach... that working distance is a killer... your work is tremendous!
great shot -- you took a subject we see every day and made it unique; proof that there is a whole new world at higher magnifications
