I guess you can only go so far attempting to rescue an image. The

shots I took at Buckhorn in October were slightly out of focus (didn't use

lens correctly). But the colors were quite nice. The foreground was

almost completely in full shadow. I tried everything I could think of to rid

the 'dock' of the 'dark blue' shadow, but didn't get far at all. I

straightened the horizon line, but this dock was extremely crooked and I

did could not see spending time trying to 'correct' it. I used a texture

filter on this one just as I used on my last Buckhorn one further down in

this folder. Hopefully soon I'll be taking much better shots with this

lens.It is slightly damaged but I don't think it is effecting the shot ...it's

just my inexpertise. Tnks for viewing, suggestions welcome esp

re 'shadow'. Gail

You have mastering well with post processing... it really looks like water coloring technique... work itself very appealing...

Your skill comes through as always, I know a thing or two about having a shot I want to hand on to but the shot is either over or under exposed or a bit concerned with focus and used a lot of variations to use it like un-sharpen layer mask and noise filters etc.  But you always seem to find a way to present your images in a truly artist representation that is appealing to the eye.  This is not exception the tones and contrast and color enhancements make if very effective.  Again I am impressed.   Your friend and always supporter MJ

Gail.... it is the critiquers job to find the faults without any give-aways from you (smiles).

I saw this an hour or so ago and read your pre-amble. I left it be and looked at others images and have now returned without re-reading the pre-amble.

I see a nicely balanced "painting" with good tones and colour. The bright colours of the left corner draw my eye in and along the jetty into the image. This is a well thoughtout image which takes your eye from bottom to top..... all emcompassing. I like it.

Well done Gail.

Gail,

No need for excuses! I like the picture. Your processing turned it into a beautifully textured work of art. What are all these photoshop tools for if not to apply them in a creative way to obtain a result as pleasing as this one. This is a very nice scene!!

I like this Gail. The crooked diagonal of the dock is interesting and there is a balance provided by the branches you have kept at the left. Love the bronze leaves too. I kind of like the blue colour in the shadows.

But if you want to remove them, an easy way is to select the area with a lasso tool then go to selective colour ( It's under the image adjustment tab in PS. I'm not sure about Elements ) Then with the area lassoed go to "blue" and move the yellow slider to remove blue ie increase yellow and also remove a bit of cyan whilst there. Then go to the "cyan" and remove a bit more blue and a bit more cyan.

All my best,  Bill

I love this shot, you have captured a great mood and atmosphere and combined it with some wonderful post processing. I like the composition, but if I might respectfully suggest a couple of things. The corner angle of the jetty is good, and you have got the little island seperated which again is good, the bit I'd have done differently is to move the camera fractionally to the right, that way you would include the end of the jetty and that delightful little boat, that is partly visible. There may of course be a very good reason you didn't. : - )

Nice work Gail

Best Regards

Apart from being a great scene with vivid colour and effective composition, this image also carries within it your touch of unique 'Gail' style. Nice overlay texture and final presentation .

Hi Gail! I thought I commented on this. I have been visiting PN late at night, and I must be too sleepy and absent minded to do complex difficult tasks like rate and comment. I have noticed I that I must have forgotten to "confirm" with other images as well. The ravages of age! Anyway, I really like this. It is a little different from what you have been doing. The processing is very well done. Best wishes, Linda

Not to worry, you're not alone!!!  Many times I've looked at an image again and was SURE I had commented on it, and I am sure I must have forgot to CONFIRM the comment. Even tonite I did click CONFIRM but not in just the right spot, and it didn't work! (checked to see if the comment was there, and it wasn't!!)

Thanks for those kind words of critique, so glad you found merit in this comp....warm regards, Gail

many thanks for that kind compliment.  I'm still learning so much and when I get stuck on an image, sometimes not so sure of myself.  Thankyou for your encouragement, it is so appreciated.  Sincere regards, Gail

Your encouragement and support mean so much and this time is no exception.  Treading softly when unsure, I often am a bit learing of posting, but many have inspired me just as you have.  So very good to hear you found merit in this image.  tnks for your positive comments, most sincerely, Gail
