Guest Guest Posted February 1, 2011 William,Sherine is a very pretty girl. You have focused well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). She has an interesting expression. I don't know if she looks condescending or just aloof, but I like it. She skin tone is very good. I love her soft looking hair. Her catchlights are good. I like the highlights on her jacket. Her make-up is very good. The eyeliner under her eyes frame them well and help to make them stand out. The background is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it.She is a vertical subject in a horizontal format. I would try a vertical format. You might like the effect better than this.I am not sure I like the horizontal bands of shadows sweeping across the background. Your composition is very right heavy. You want more room in front of her than behind her so that she can be facing into the picture rather than out of it, but not this much. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you have good left and right compositional balance. This little rule almost always works well. At least it gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment

johnborg 0 Posted February 6, 2011 Hi William. Thanks for your recent comments to some of my last shots. This is a very nice picture with a modern touch. I like the black and white conversion and the contrast. The composition is good with space left in front of the model. The only suggestion I can think of is to slightly bring out some more detail in the highlights of the hair. Best regards...JB Link to comment
