This is a powerful image with extraordinary color and presence. I think, though, that it is just a little flat. You could afford to have a few pixels blow to white in order to improve the local contrast and strengthen the color relationships.

This is a powerful portrait but I find the very obvious burning in of the background, along with distinct margins where it is not, very distracting.

Definitely 'compelling' portrait. Very dignified man. I agree with Les' comments and editing...looks better.

More contrast is indeed better, make it less flat.

Although the increase of color is a bit too much for me.

But perhaps it's my monitor.

I find the spot a good idea, but it's  too much, You right about that.

Very interesting portrait! But I think Les Berkeley postprocessing is better.
