Matt Laur

D300 at ISO 640 and 1/1250th. Used a 70-200/2.8 at f/5.6 and 200mm. Exposure compensation of a third of a stop to help prevent the meter from being fooled by the snow.

This Red Setter is working in below-freezing temperatures to pick out

the fleeting scent of quail on a wintery day. He's on point, showing the

way to a bird in some brushy cover about 30 feet away. He stood this

point like a statue until his handler flushed the bird into the next field.

Despite the reflections off the snow, the lighting here is tricky, and can

make it difficult to preserve details in the dog's monochromatic coat.

Thanks for visiting.

Matt...a very nice image.  Good composition, good colors, and I get a sense of standing in the cold, crunchy snow next to the Red Setter.  There must be quail nearby.  Thanks for sharing.
