NICE! We must be neighbors :D only 1.5 hours from where I live :D

Good shot, well composed, good timing. Very cute with the other little fellow proping his head on the on in front.

This is a great image!  I have tried many times to get a good shot of these guys and besides being in constant motion they are usually in dark water and they are dark , so not much luck.  This is the best image I have seen of them.  Wonderful expressions and you captured the detail very well with a limited dof which makes them stand out.  Great job!!

I just took a picture similar to this of meerkats nestled together.  But otters!  This is just wonderful......beautifully captured and processed.  I also live within an easy drive from Muscatatuck, and I've always wanted to see the sand hill crane migration.  Have you seen it as well?  And do you live in the area?  You have a stunning portfolio, BTW, and I'm marking you as interesting so I can get back and spend more time looking at your amazing collection.

Thanks Christal,

I haven't seen the sandhill cranes at Muscatatuck, but I've seen them in several other areas of the country, the best for me being down in Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico (never been to the Platte River in Nebraska to see them though). I live in Brooklyn, New York, so no, not near Muscatatuck, but I try to get out there a couple of times a year. I've been to all the National Parks in the lower 48 (and several in Alaska and Canada) and to quite a few of the Refuges too, and Muscatatuck is definitely one of my favorite of the Refuges and is a great place to visit in any season. I really like going in winter because on a good day you can see the otters come out on the ice to rest, play and especially eat. Owls, mostly barred, are also quite active in the winter.
