When I viewed this image larger, I certainly got a surprise!! So well executed is this image, I felt a bit dizzy, as if I was on that river...so powerful! And the mountain sides are amazing in detail.  They almost appear to have snow or ice on them, but this cannot be, in India...what is the history or story of this rock face, if you have time to tell me??? Magnificent detail...congrats, awesome feelings it inspires, most sincerely, Gail

Thanks a lot Gail for appreciating this photograph. These are marble rocks with amazing shades of white.  Early morning rays have created the magic effects on the marble rocks and on the river Narmada. This is in central India. Very near to Jabalpur city, MP.  These marble rocks are visited everyday by large number of tourists in different times of the day.  Not very difficult to reach there. Usually the tourists go there by boats. Thanks again for showing interest in this shot. Best regards.

Sumon, the light throughout this is absolutely beautiful. This must have been very difficult to achieve since you appear to have been shooting right into the sun. I like how everything radiates from the central point without being exactly symmetrical. The circular movements in the water and the way the sun gleams across it is spectacular and makes it look as though it is granite.

Very masterful execution of an original scene, with amazing light control, vivid colors, wonderful sharpness and very good depth. I suppose you captured it handheld, and if so, this is really amazing result! I also impressed by this final warm color palette, which apts here. Bravo.

Sumon, I join the crowd with my congratulations on a magnificent image.  It helps to have the detail on the place and conditions of this shot that you gave in responding to Gail.  The light is wonderful and the marble canyon-like cliffs have wonderful detail.  You are well rewarded for getting this image near first light of the day.  The river in the foreground almost looks like lava or rock - fascinating. Perhaps it's shallow here.  I also like the sky which adds an element of mystery. One, question:  Are you using a super wide angle lens (almost fisheye)?  It appears that the rocks on the left lean in a bit.  Is this the way the cliff is or is it wide angle distortion?  You have created a most unique and successful image.

This is an excellent capture of the effect of morning light on the majestic rocks and water. Great textural details. Well done. Regards, ifti

Thanks my friends for your strong support and motivating comments.

Larry,

You’re right. At the time of capturing the shot the focal length of the lens was 7.9 mm. But, I think, there is no wide-angle distortion. There is no leaning of the rocks. They are captured as they are. The pov is unusual. I was on a boat and I stretched my hand, outside the boat, down almost to the water level to capture the shot. The camera was held by one hand. The river is not at all shallow there. It’s the magic effect of the morning rays at that moment. Thanks a lot for showing interest and appreciating this image.

Best regards.

Sumon, a mignificent and unique work. The exquisite detail of the rocks, the turmoil of the water and the serene sky combine with beautiful color to create a work of art.  Congratulations!
