Dick...  You have mastered this lens.  I never did get comfortable with the 80-400; it just didn't fit my subject matter and/or my general use.  I sold it and replaced it with an 80-200 f/2.8 that I love.  It makes birding more of a challenge, but I don't do much of that anyway.  Anyway, this is just excellent... Mike

Thank you!  This is a tough lens to use for reasons that have been well documented.  I would love to have the 70-200 VR and the 500mm VR II.  But, there is that pesky money issue:-)

Anyway, I'll keep shooting with the 80-400 until the time arrives.
