Niki,

I like the pose, the lighting on the model and on the chair but I feel the background lighting hurts rather than helps your composition.  The more or less horizontal light fights the vertical feeling of the rest.

Hi

I really like the lighting you set up for this shot. You have a beautiful expressive model.

I'm not really sure if that chair fits in your composition, but then again, i'm more of a "keep it simple" kind. Be careful when framing. The fact that you cut her toes is not exaclty a plus.

Otherwise, i really like the grey tones and the relaxed and "opened" mood.

Overall I like the shot. I like the lighting too. However where the light hits the hair she is holding makes the hair look blurred. That is distracting. The cut of shoes are a major no no for me.

I would suggest another arrangement for all natural lighting. Difficult yes, but worth the time. Use the same excellent model and replace the chair witha couch or a single bed.

Like the light and tones in this fine Artist Nude, only minor niggle is the cropped off toes.

Niki,

I have grown to appreciate your lighting technique, especially the serrated top right lighting which adds to a very flattering backdrop. The impression is one of open Venetian blinds on a natural light source or window or perhaps old fashioned cinema lighting.

Staying with the latter theme the clever use of monochrome adds to the atmosphere. This is staged cinematic but there is also a 'classy-seedy' element to it that is at once hard to define. This might well be to do with the posture and that classical portrait chair draped in fabric.

Personally, I love the below the waist effusive use of shallowness. This creates a lovely contrast to the slightly sharper above the waist body.

Three suggestions, firstly, your cropping to get rid of the toe feels a little harsh and leaves the frame just a little incomplete for me. Perhaps, had I been looking at a larger framed version this might not appear as a flaw. Secondly, a little more space to the right would have allowed the eyes to breathe rather more. I feel a little cramped. Thirdly and I am sure most of the voyeurs would disagree with me, I find the lower half to be so very flattering that a little more crossing of the leg to completely blur out even the slight hint of vaginal lips would have made for an even softer and flatteringly sexy image.

One last suggestion although I had only promised three about, I'd love a little more focus around those eyes. Tack sharp would make the challenge in contrast to be more remarkable.
