There's a romanticism captured here that's palpable. It is painterly and very textural. The soft colors provide a nice backdrop for those textures. The foreground tree is like a protective canopy. It establishes a nice atmosphere and doesn't stray from that. There's a consistency of feeling throughout.

A couple of technical observations, minor though they are. The very lowest branch of the foreground tree is getting a little lost in the background and I think you could bring more depth into the photo be separating the lowest part of that branch from the background trees a little. I think the visual effect would be enhanced by that. Also, there are some brighter areas of sky peaking out form those background trees. It's hard to tell whether than occurred in post processing or the sky was really lighter in those spots, but in any case I wonder if they could be darkened a hair and not attract so much attention. My eye is really drawn to them and I'd prefer to be left to wander the scene a bit more aimlessly.

I made the same observation about the branch in front of the background, unfortunately it wasn't until I got home. I was thinking of bringing out the highlights in the snow on the branch, might help pull it out from the background a bit.

As for the bright spot, that is the sun. I was using the branch to help filter it's strong effect. I could try to tone it down a bit, but that might make it worse imo.

Tim, just to be clear, I'm not talking about the bright spot of the sun. Toning that down would be counterproductive. That's a point of photographic interest of the photo and gives it its life. I was talking about the bright spot down among the background tress, a little to the left of center, toward the top of the row of background trees. I think your idea of bringing out some highlights of the snow on the lower branch of the main tree would be a good way to go.

I'm sorry! LOL  Yeah, I see what you're talking about. Perhaps the bottom left corner as well.

I'm a goofball. I must have assumed you've never seen the sun. LOL!!
