Hi David,  I like this shot a lot.  It has a painting-like quality to it.  I like the placement of the birdhouse and the fact that it's slightly out of focus.  The sparse leaves on the tree, and, of course the snowy texture, add to the effectiveness of the image - nicely done!

David, what a lovely capture, and so fitting for this time of year..! I like the mood this conveys, very serene and quiet... It almost looks like an abstract, and it has a somewhat magical quality to it, I believe. (I guess that this was enhanced by your chosen focus on the branches, thus leaving the birdhouse slightly blurry)  --  My best wishes to you, David for a happy and creative year 2011. With kind regards, Marjolein

This is a beautiful photo. I like the fact you chose to have the bird house slightly out of focus giving it a softened look. That along with a non blurred snow fall really help set the mood. Quiet and peaceful. makes one lower their voice while looking at it so as not to disturb. I really like the larger image

David...  As has been noted, this is very much like a painting except that (a flaw in my appreciation I'm sure) paintings rarely make me feel the scene.  In this one I can hear the quiet...  Excellent... Mike

Soft, tranquil, quiet......just the perfect dof to show the birdhouse without competing with that beautiful snow covered tree branch and a light "peppering" of color. Excellent shot!

I just saw your comment on Mike Mancil's image, and I thought I should come over and check out your work.  This is absolutely fantastic.....the color, the mood, the composition.....everything.  It's the kind of image you would see in Technicolor on a fine Disney film.  I'm probably dating myself when I say Technicolor  ;-)  There have been countless new technologies since then......but you get my point......it's first rate.  All winter I've wanted to get a picture of a beautiful scene WHILE it's snowing, but as much snow as we've had and I still haven't been able to do it.  :-)

Hi Crystal - Thanks so much for your visit and kind remarks.  Plenty of winter left for more snowy scenes!

Take care, David
