timzeipekis 5 Posted January 7, 2011 Not that it really matters, but I'm a bit surprised by the low ratings.....wish I had some explanation. I really love this photograph! Perhaps my taste is a bit odd. LOL Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted January 8, 2011 What? No nudes, babies, or dogs? No wonder the low ratings!Seriously, I like this too Tim. It is a quiet, comtemplative image - with nice depth through the winter woods. Simple, undramatic yet honest landscapes don't seem to draw much attention though - sadly enough.Take care, David Link to comment
robwilson 0 Posted January 8, 2011 I think that this is a fine capture as well. Why I like it, and why I think it works, is because there seems to be an almost 'invisible' leading line from the foreground into the depths of the forest.Nice work indeed.CheersRob Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 8, 2011 David - I think too many people just skim over the images and never really stop to "look" before giving a rating and most images here require you to "view larger" to really appreciate it. BTW, I was nude when I took this photo, don't know if that helps. LOL Rob - Glad you noticed the almost "tunnel" effect created by the trees receding into the background. I took the time to compose this that way, nice to know it works. The snow was really coming down and created a nice soft gray curtain to help separate the trees in the foreground from the ones in the back. Thank you both! Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted January 8, 2011 I like it! It's "crisp"! I would crop the larger tree on the right. Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 8, 2011 Thanks David, the tree to the right is a close personal friend of mine. We went to college together and it is a Flames fan, so I felt wrong asking it to step out of the frame. LOLSeriously though, I could argue either way, but I like the "anchor" effect that it has. Not Here 93 Posted January 9, 2011 Tim... I never comment on "nudes" but this one is just so natural and real that I had to set my prudishness aside. The very mature lady on the right does anchor the frame well; the thin model on the left is not to my taste, but all the other well rounded girls-next-door are excellent. Depth is hard to present with such a straightforward image, but you've done well with this one... A deceptively simple image; but then, girls are like that, aren't they?! ;-)Oh yes, I much prefer this one to the alternate version taken under the "strip club" lighting.... Mike Link to comment
ryourth 0 Posted January 9, 2011 I agree with Rob. I do not feel as if I am standing back & observing the scene but rather that I am walking into the scene. Regards -Ross Link to comment
