Guest Guest Posted January 13, 2011 Kersti,Karin is a pretty girl. You have focused well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and a very nice smile. The background is a strange color for a portrait. Orange usually doesn't go well with skin tones. I don't care for the blotchy area near the bottom behind her, either. The overall color is off. It has sort of an orange tone to it. You need to correct for skin tone. She has a nice catchlight in her left eye. She needs one in her right eye.You have a vertical subject shot in a horizontal format. A vertical format may work better.Your left and right compositional balance is very right heavy. Karin should have more room in front of her than behind. This allows her to be facing into the picture, not out of it. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you have good left and right compositional balance. This little rule almost always works well. At least it gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced.I have cropped this to a vertical format and tried to improve the color.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
kersta1 0 Posted January 20, 2011 I like warm, sunny tone on this photo. And specially I like girls playful look over the sholder. Free space on left side helps to accent on this and makes Karin more alive on the picture. In my opinion.Best regards,Kersti Link to comment
