Hi Catherine,

I would suggest removing the black branches at the top. Then use level tool to get better tones in your main attraction. It will open up her eyes and the other side of face which is going dark. I tried removing branches that were close to her so that she stands out more. Take a look.

cheers... Sandeep

I would not go that far with removing branches. just the small ones touching the animals head is enough. Of course you should brighten the dark side a bit, but only locally , without changing the rest of the picture.  Do you only have one picture of this animal ? This one has one major problem. The head is out of focus. cheers, Hans

Hi Catherine....... firstly, let me say that this is a fine sighting, and whilst you are in the wilds..... you shoot what you can..... leaves, twigs et al.

In my attachment, I have just added a tad of sharpness and lightened the dark area a smidge.

You already have the natural colouring of the animal so I would leave any saturation issues alone.

Personally I like the composition as you have captured it. It smacks of the wilds and I am not a zoo person.

Unfotunately I did not look at the Exif on this image before starting my comment (naughty of me) but would suggest that you consider using the centre-point autofocus option (my thoughts are that the camera was set on pattern). I would imagine you were in a game veiwing vehicle (with engine running) adding to the obvious movement/Oof issue here..... maybe a higher shutter speed could obviate that.

I know the adrenalin rush was high...... you've done well.

Regards
