Indeed, the composition is great. Usually it would not work to leave so much space for the sky and show only so less of the water. But here it works out perfectly. Great capture.

It works well because there's the tower of San Marco - well placed at the "golden cut". A classical composition.

About the light I'm not entirely sure: the walls facing the sun seem a bit overexposed.
