Really fantastic capture - the light and shadows are perfectly balanced and the clarity is wonderful. Great expression being caught in the middle of a meal.

thank you to everyone who has commented and rated this. Yakini has a real character and I studied him for a while before taking a series of shots while he ate. I gained permission to get extra close  (over the barrier ) but at a safe distance to maximise the benefit of the 200mm zoom. This shot was taken right before closing time at the zoo when there was no one around but the keeper and I.

Wonderful image Art......lucky you to get a lot closer to this magnificent 'beast' although his expression does not communicate he would like to share his snack with you....certainly gives us a most interesting 'facial expression' that gives this shot even more impact. Well done!

Magnificent portrait of this ape, he looks pretty frightening in fact, I am impressed by your bravery to cross the fence. Happy new Year, Art! VA

Superb shot of this indignant fellow! Love the lighting. Curious what you used for lighting. Care to elaborate? Excellent work!

All the best,
Neil

once again thanks everyone for your feedback. much appreciated. Good to hear from you again Neil. The light is actually natural light from the afternoon sun. As it was about 1730hrs the sunlight was shining through the shadows of the trees in the enclosure from directly behind Yakini's back. In front of him was a pot pan (given to them as play toys) which also reflected part of the sunlight. I've simply used these elements and enhanced them in post editing.
