This is a powerful picture, and somewhat shocking. The emotional and visual impact it conveys is staggering -- all the people in shorts and t-shirts intermingling, and one individual issolated and alone. Just incredible.

The isolation of the man is well conveyed by his separation from the crowd and its ineresting that he sits in a pile of waste paper with a paper cup ... hm I would have called it 'Waste Paper'.   Great street shot.

Catherine, with respect to the papers,   I'll try to explain :here in Argentine is a custom, for dismissing the old year , to throw out thru the windows, all the  wasted paper of the office.That explain the littered street.

Sergio, A great image with the contrast of the crowd and the solitary man. The line of the papers seems to be the separation point where no one dares to cross. The light beyond the paper is even brighter. I am curious as to why all of the papers are around the man.

Here there is a crossing street the tourist one, Florida, and other one of offices Lavalle, it happened that the man was in the offices street, where the papers are throwing away to dismiss the year...it was a chance. Regards
