I have been coming back to this image time and time again. I was hoping to find inspiration in the comments of others but that hasn't happened.

I too, like photographing girls against a black background. You might guess I like the girl in this image and the way you have caught her. However apart from that there is an emptiness about the image. Whatever she is interacting with is off camera and there is no clue to what it might be in the image.

I am a little lost.

David,

Thanks for your visit and honest opinion. She supposed to be lost in her dreams. No interaction. Just color and shape. Sorry you do not like it.

At least you are honest and I like that a lot.

All the best in New Year.

I wouldn't say I don't like it. It is very difficult to 'not like' a beautiful girl when she is photographed so well. It's just the composition and feeling is something I don't quite 'get.' Having read your comment and the fact that I am lost, tends to suggest that maybe the image worked... sort of.

I see some drama to the pose.  I see a theme here with angles.  It is like every angle is adjacent, equal, and opposite angle.  The eyes merely follow the pattern you have set.  I think the exposure works but I notice that your lighting pushes the observer to look up because it is here where the lighting of the skin contrasts the background most.  Below the waist the lighting appears to diminish. I would like to see the image cropped from left to right as the left side has too much unused space that doesn't contribute to the image.  I like how the light is used to position the eyes to what is most important about the model.  She did well modeling considering this position doesn't look very comfortable to pose in. Bravo for the name I think fits the image. Another thing I would have liked is to have the person in the image a little closer to the camera.  I think it was a good image.

You have a great command over lighting your models and a stile of excellence to present them, the model here is such a beautiful lady and posed perfectly with confidence while your your black background did give the necessary separation factor need to bring out the model  in a perfect shape.

Than k you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.
