This is an excellent capture.

If I may make a few suggestions. The orientation and placement of the subject in the frame makes the image look very "snapshot-ish" (if there is such a word). The hawk is small and dead center in the frame and with its wings tucked in, has a vertical presentation. Yet the image crop is horizontal. By switching to a vertical crop and placing the hawk a little off center, it changes this image from a mere casual snapshot to a much more interesting image. The majoity of images, unless they are sweeping landscapes, look much better in a vertical format. Don't be afraid to turn the camera sideways!

Perfect moment Peter.  Better than the "after" shot.  I like the crop and will suggest just a bit of a tweak to bring up the brightness and contrast only on the birds.   Excellent catch, can we send you back some of our Starlings?   7 for me.

Outstanding capture.  Rarely do we see the emotional impact of the prey.  As suggested above, I'd de-center the composition.  Best Regards, Jerry
