Fabrizio,

She is a beautiful girl. You have focused well on her eyes. She has very good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and a soft pleasant expression. I love her skin tone and its smooth velvety texture. Her make-up, the specular highlights on her lips, and the contrast are excellent. The background is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it.

The lighting is very nice, but those little, tiny pointy catchlights in the middle of her pupils, caused by your built-in flash, are a bit bothersome, annoying and a tad spooky looking.

The left and right compositional balance is quite good, but you could crop a bit off the right side. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you have good left and right compositional balance. This little rule almost always works well. At least it gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced.

It would be good to remove the hair that is running across her right eye.

You may have a little too much sharpness. Some individual strands of her hair are having some problems -- not on the blown-up picture.

Her knee should not be in the picture. At least, I assume it is her knee. It is taking up too much space and is drawing attention away from her face.

© 2010 Fabrizio R. is not part of the photograph. It is quite appropriate to place your name on a mat surrounding the photograph.

I cropped for better compositional balance and to remove her knee and your name.

Nice shot,

Mark
