Andrew.... Elegant and demure...  I like this presentation a lot.  Now, having said that I offer a few IMO's for you to look at and see if you agree.  There's a slight shadow that follows her right shoulder that catches my attention; a loose thread right at her chest and in the background, down by her left arm, are some pattern repeats that grab the eye.  Anyway, regardless of those comments, this is good stuff... In my place there is a spider called black widow, but doesn't look nearly so good, ha! Kidding! The portrait here is an extraordinary example of beauty and study of a character and feelings!

First I didn`t understand why the title of last one submited, after I saw this one and red what Michael said all is clear. In last one you did some improvements and the portrait is different in good way,but realy I like this one as position and size and so as you did changes to last one i think that you can do easy to this one too,I think that the proportions is what I like more here, just another opinion, best regards and good light.

Andrew,

She is a pretty girl. The downcast eyes has created a very nice feeling. Her make-up looks very good. The left and right compositional balance is very good. You could crop a smidgen off the top, but that's a close call.

I think you could go with a little less exposure. I find her skin tone it to be a bit on the warm side. There really isn't much detail in her black clothing. It would be nice to try to bring out some of the detail -- especially with all that pretty lace.

Do not pose your subject straight on to the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear wide. Your subject will appear thinner and more feminine, graceful and elegant if turned at an angle to the camera. The lines you see from an angle have more apparent motion, interest and grace. You usually do not want to have your subject turned 90 degrees to the camera. This can make the head look unsupported. As a rule it looks best to angle your subject somewhere around 45 degrees.

You might want to tone down the hot spot on her left shoulder. It might be a good idea to soften her complexion a little to help hide any imperfections.

Michael brought out some good points. I might add that on the outside of her right arm there appears to be a white tag (or something). That should be removed. It would be a good idea to crop a little off the bottom. You could remove the little chunk of her right arm that is showing on the bottom and you really are close to cropping at a joint (her left elbow).

I tried to improve the skin tone and bring out a little detail in her clothing. I don't know if what I did improved it much. It really is quite a nice moody portrait.

Now that I look at it. I could have cropped just a smidgen more off the bottom for better compositional balance.

Nice shot,

Mark

Mark,

Thank you very much for your time and detail critique. Many things that you suggested can be improved since I have a RAW fie. Unfortunately the image was a bit over exposed so not all correctioes are possible.

Best regards,

Andrew
