allan kirby 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Your pictures are always a good study for many different reasons, but this time I am noticing how effective the background is in the picture. Its rustic, yet not detracting. Its real yet not definitive. The lighting works well. Thanks again for the lesson John. Link to comment
mark_lawrence2 0 Posted December 14, 2010 I think that the exposure was good , the composition was good, the colors pop, nice model position. There is one thing that short circuits all the good you do in the image and that is the eyes. They are half closed. I find the eyes are the window to the soul so they require extra care as does the face. If it wasn't for her eyes I would give it an outstanding review. Link to comment
rana1 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Well, I will have to disagree with Allan here. The background does it? Yeah, right! Let's face it, what does it, is first and foremost the model...but as Mark mentioned, the pose, lighting and color work very well together....also the slightly lower angle of the shoot... There's only one thing: the blue spot next to her eye keeps bothering me. You photograph beautiful women, that's for sure, but more importantly you photograph them beautifully... Link to comment
jerrymat 3 Posted December 14, 2010 I was almost going to write "What blue spot?" until I looked in the hair. Yes there is some kind of tiny glitch there, just above her right eye.John, I much prefer the graphic simplicity of a background like this to backgrounds that have a lot of environmental "noise" in them. Your skin tones here are absolutely perfect and the simple color scheme is very pleasing.Regards,Jerry Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted December 14, 2010 John, you can obviously work on any background, good for you! I think that even the lighting here is available light, I just wonder how you manage to achieve impression of a studio shot when you say you don't even have a studio! And I don't see traces of fill in flash here, as a matter of fact I see shadows which wouldn't be on the picture (model) if you have used it, maybe minus flash?! Anyway this is a gorgeous picture of elegant, self assured and above all beautiful model! Cheers my friend!PDE Link to comment
John Peri 1,007 Posted December 14, 2010 Haha, thank you friends .. I went back to the original to see what the problem was above the eye .. it's in fact a little flower that seems to be hitching a ride. Let's face it, isn't that how many plants distribute their seeds .. : -)I welcome the comments, thank you all. One never knows before posting what will incite interest or not. The flower, well that's solved now. The lighting Pierre, it's simply daylight .. she is standing in the doorway (or what was once a door) of an abandoned building, which explains the background too. I agree that backgrounds can sometimes be intrusive, but they can also convey atmosphere to a scene, and that is where the challenge for us photographers lies in finding the right balance. The half closed eyes, well that's the brightness of a summer day I guess, accompanied by the backward posture of the head. In fact she's standing in the shade but looking out towards the light (me!). The only problem that no one mentioned is that the skin can be a little patchy due to sunbathing, but oh well, these girls have a life too ... thank you all, much appreciated. John Link to comment
John Peri 1,007 Posted December 14, 2010 Regarding my remark above with the flower, I meant after pollination has occurred of course ..however, in this attractive image that I just fell across http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=12076297 I think the matter is more one of species distribution ! kts 0 Posted December 14, 2010 nicely posed to fit the muted backround with great light and color on the model....also like that the model isn't looking directly into the camera on this one....excellent work John Link to comment
garyminor 0 Posted December 15, 2010 John, I have been away from Photo Net too long but I see you are still turning out beautiful artwork. I especially like the body attitude of this lovely model. The matching colors of the garment and nail polish and the very similar colors of her nipples and cheeks and lips add much to the success of the photo. It is simply very well done. Link to comment
