Hour 1 of an incredible Game Safari.......... memories one cannot

describe and a re-entry on my "Bucket List" of things I want to do again.

Hi Grayham! Nice, soft, sided light and interesting activity! The lower right part of your frame though seems a bit distractive. It occupies too much space and prevents the viewer's eye to focus on the elephants playing in the water. Regards from Greece, Teo!

You are right in your observation, but when you are in a Safari Landrover (type vehicle) you shoot first and jockey for position later (smiles).

I kept this one as a reminder of the situation at the time.

Thanks for your visit and comments......

Grayham,

I tend to agree about the lower right side of the frame but, then again I can overlook that clutter understanding and appreciating that when photographing Wildlife we often have to settle for "making the best out of the situation presented to us!"

I can tell you must have been fairly close for this to have been taken at a focal length of 75mm as the EXIF data shows.

Have you also considered some heavy crop alternatives to see if there were any compositions hidden in your shot here!

Just some thoughts, . . . .

Regards always,

Jim j.

Thanks so much for your visit and kind comment.

Yes, you are quite correct in that you use what is presented at the time....... we had moved at a snails pace to get here, and whilst I was filming, our driver was trying to get us closer and closer...... but always, to a point. The animals know we are there and will tolerate our presence ... to a point.

Personally, I prefer this image to those of a whole herd at a waterhole ..... for me it has some character with the African bush.... their protective nature towards their young.... the whole ambiance.

My adrenaline was pumping here (smiles).

Jim, I'm desperate to see the rest of Australia... my huge bucket list.... BUT if I ever have any time left over......... Africa is God's own country.

Best regards my friend
