indywatchman 0 Posted January 4, 2003 Is there safety in numbers? Not for ducks. We used to have a large number of domestic ducks and geese on our farm pond, until a very long cold freeze laid over Indiana some years ago. Fox and wild dogs seem to come from everywhere to try their luck on the ice. A great number were successful; we would find only feathers the next day. Whenever I see ducks on a frozen pond I remember that winter. Thin ice is a safe haven and they rest easy. Link to comment
