pascal luypen 0 Posted December 11, 2010 Nice shot of this beautiful model. Good sharp eyes with multiple highlights in them. Great detail in her hair. Loverly bokeh (hollywood like) in the background. Still I gave this picture a rating: 4.After I pressed the number 4 I asked myself: "Why did I do that? Doesn't this picture deserve a higher rating?" After going back I realised what was the first thing that caught my eye. It was the completely black (and lacking any detail) sweater of whatever it is she's wearing. It does make her face standout more, but it put me off, causing me to hit the number 4. I'm a bit sorry for that, considering the rest of the image. But it is the total image that made me (on rating-autopilot) decide for that rating. If there had been detail in her clothing I would have definitaly rated a 5 or maybe even 6 for this image.Considering the top 2/3 of this image I did feel compelled to explain my rating, cos I really love that part. Hope this helps you in some way. Link to comment
marina 0 Posted December 11, 2010 Pascal,I really apreciate your comment! I prefer a 4 rating with an explanation than a anonimous 3 without any comment ( in fact that's the first voe this pic recieved and I'm wondering about an authomatic 3 rate when posting pics)I must say this turtle neck she was wearing was completely black without sewing so when I converted to B/W it looked completely deep black Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 11, 2010 The sweater is an issue. I understand this point has been dealt with. The eyes and the mouth are simply fantastic. A goog portrait indeed. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 11, 2010 I agree if not for the shirt, this portrait work is very connecting, the sharpness on the face, the soft and pleasant lighting, the contrast and tone are all ok to me which makes me give this image 6, to lit a portrait with natural light out door is not an easy matter and you did a wonderful job here.Wishing you all of the best.
