jack_roberts 0 Posted January 3, 2003 I assume that "The Beast" is the subject of your photo "One Eye 1998". He has one large vertical feather in this photo whereas he has that feather plus a partial fearther in the "One Eye" photo. I know that feathers have a meaning, is that the case here? Link to comment
exploitz 0 Posted January 4, 2003 I love the contrast between the subjects...light vs. dark, angel vs. warrior(?), plain vs. ornate. Good work! One of my favorites of this portfolio. Link to comment
jimvanson 0 Posted January 4, 2003 Angel vs Warrior...thats great! The young Angel (I feel like a fool here as I've forgotten her name) became Joseph the Warrior's wife, and is mother to their daughter. She truly is a Beauty, with very classic features. Joseph on the other hand is not a Beast. He is a very polite, quite gentleman, who comes from a great, extended Pow Wowing family. Link to comment

jorge 0 Posted January 11, 2003 I like this portrait very much. Striking. The tonal values are very well handled. My only criticism is that I feel the frame and caption detract the strong image and I would do away with them. I upload a cropped version adding a slim black frame to hold the light tones in. hayward 0 Posted February 6, 2003 I'm not sure I've ever commented on any of your photos, but I've enjoyed viewing all those that I've seen and been struck by your skill in finding truly interesting, expressive people and your skill in making these outstanding prints. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 29, 2003 Another excellent portrait! I think Im forced to agree with the comment on the frame, although I also think I disagree with his post (nothing wrong with it, just trying to emphasize that when one views a photograph it is always mounted in a frame). So I would suggest adding a little color and/or texture to the frame thats all. I cant help but notice that the couple seems very young to have had a child already. Im not too crazy about the title for two reasons: one of which you have alluded to alreadythere is no beast in this photograph; and two, the title is such a cliché anymoreespecially in Photo.Net. One more thing to pick on would be the background being too plain or simple which makes the portrait look modern or even stylish if that were possible, as if it would have been taken in K-mart or something. Nonetheless it is still good for 7/7. Link to comment
