Yeah, it's one of my favorites too.  With the reworking of the dike system, one can no longer hike out to this spot (straight west from the refuge center over to the river).

The mood  of  the day is  definitely  excellent here.  Even  without  the  bird, witch is a crown on the  image.

Stunningly beautiful, on the one hand, and stirring thought, on the other. "Give your heart to the hawks" - the problematic of the conditio humana springs to mind...

Bela, Katie, and Bengt, thanks for visiting.  It seems like this photo was taken a lifetime ago, and in a sense it was:  film, a scanner, and a landscape that looks completely different today with the breaching of dikes and restoration of a tidal estuary.  It's no longer possible to go back to this particular location, and that's a positive change.
