marcadamus 1 Posted December 9, 2010 OK, so here I was on Mars...oh, wait.....what? The Arizona desert you say? Yes, it actually does get this strange. There's two of these images, similar in the sci-fi type mood and art. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on both of them. Yes, I do realize how weird this may look if you weren't out there. The point here for me is weird, fascinating, surreal, etc. That's what this place is all about. The clouds helped considerably. Link to comment
melloncollie 0 Posted December 9, 2010 yes, the clouds too, but the light and the color they gave help this photo to look even more " strange". an excellent photo overall, but the foreground itself not as mind blowing as the other similar you posted a few days ago, IMO. best wishes. Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted December 10, 2010 The "Alien" surreal theme continues, this could be a scene from a Sci Fi film, the very detailed patterns of the lava flows path creates the idea that this was a road constructed by aliens, in fact "Gandalf Gollum, Sam and Frodo" wouldn't look out of place in this scene, as they make thier way towards the evil wizard Sarumans lair. I like this a lot, but feel the other image has more immediate visual impact.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
miles_morgan 0 Posted December 10, 2010 Well, considering I was about 100 yards to the left, I LOVE this image. I can't believe how good this comp is. I was trying desperately to find SOMETHING that faced west when this cloud lit, and wound up with a rather disappointing effort. Oh well, at least I can enjoy yours! Link to comment

Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 11, 2010 I'd love to see an article by you on how you created the last 3 or 4 images you've posted and how you achieved the light and colors you display. Would this be good for a piece in the PN monthly newsletter? Thanks, Marc. Link to comment
jeremy jackson 0 Posted December 12, 2010 Another great image Marc. The thing about your work is that the viewer is never left wondering if it's great. We don't have to be convinced. It's just flat-out spectacular landscape work from start to finish. I often look around pnet to get ideas but when I come to your work, the ideas fade away and I am left with the real, sometimes hard to swallow truth about GR type landscape photography. And that is....work harder than anyone else, be more determined, be more dedicated to photography, stay outside longer and find only the most fantastic in nature. Add in a great eye, a feel for what works and post-production expertise and the result is what you give us again and again. This is magic. Thank you for the inspiration. Best, JJ Link to comment

User_1855600 0 Posted February 1, 2011 Marc- What a visual feast you've prepared for us. I am especially intrigued with with the subdued foreground. I know I would have been temped to lighten it up and increase the contrast slightly..... but your decision to leave it slightly flat and muted and dark is a great choice. We are asked to explore the quiet, textural, and mesmerizing aspect of the image. The vibrant clouds looming overhead is icing on the cake. This is a tremendously powerful image that really draws in the viewer. Congratulations. Link to comment
