vbirke 0 Posted December 7, 2010 Taken in the old centre of New Orleans (it's the famous Bourbon Street, as you can see). This town is just amazing. Among others, Tony French knows... ;-) Cheers, Volker Link to comment

tonyfrench 0 Posted December 9, 2010 Volker, a great shot of this bar. Nicely detailed inside and out. I particularly like seeing the side street. I tried taking a similar shot at 7 AM during the summer, but the amount of grain made it unusable. Link to comment
sumon_mukherjee 0 Posted December 9, 2010 An unusual composition with excellent exposure. Very interesting slice of life. Yes, the side street has definitely enhanced the attraction. Best regards. Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted December 9, 2010 Very live capture, with wonderful light control, masterful composition and nice color balance. This kind of piece of arts is very attractive for persons like me living in another hemisphere, liking to know about routine life in another country and culture. I really liked it and enjoyed. Thank you for sharing it.Hamid. Link to comment

vbirke 0 Posted December 11, 2010 Many thanks for giving so much positive feedback!Tony, I entirely agree to you, it was very difficult to achieve useable results under such difficult light conditions. Most of the pics I shot at ISO 1000 or 800 during that evening (this one here at 1000), but got around 10-30 sec exposure time only then... (at f/2.8). This pic was post-processed a bit especially addressing the ISO grain - very important IMO: using NoiseNinja to get rid of the ISO grain. Maybe a full frame sensor works a bit better here (is more recommendable) rather than a crop sensor, because of (still) reduced ISO grain at higher ISO numbers. I'm always amazed yet how well my old 5D (Mark I) handles this issue in a lot of available light cases... In combination with Noise Ninja (or even without) the results are very often amazing IMO.Gonna come up with some more shots of New Orleans soon.Cheers,Volker Link to comment
johnborg 0 Posted December 12, 2010 Interesting street/nightlife capture which is very well composed. I like the view of the people inside showing what's going on. Very good exposure. Just a small suggestion.... I would suggest a slight burning in of the left outer edge of the image as it lacks some contrast compared with the rest of the image. Best regards JB Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted December 12, 2010 Many thanks!John, appreciate, you're right, however, it is a minor flaw IMO, maybe it has to be a part of such a kind of street shot? Depends, I would say... Anyway, let me come up with an amended version, which will address your issue, a bit later on.Cheers, Volker Link to comment
