Overall I like this shot.

What I find harder to appreciate is the amount of white under the eye, or the amount of iris under the eyelid, either one.

Everything else is very good: the red lipstick I especially like as it is partly hidden. The colors are uniform and consistant, the lighting has quality, the pose is comfortable. The hand I'm more or less neutral to. I can see it being both a handicap and an asset, but it's dark enough so as not to distract from her eye contact. The red trim is dark enough that it doesn't distract either. Over all a very good portrait.

Baloney. The background is not cheesy. It's a standard studio backdrop. Or at least, it looks like one. What does "cheesy" mean?

Seriously, Bailey. what's cheesy about the background? What do you think it should be, or what would have made it better?

I couldn't see anyone faking the background without hours of work, given the way it appears though a black veil. Prehaps it is the level of saturation on the background that is making Bailey think it is synthetic. A little less saturation (not much) may make the subject and its wonderful saturation (note green eyes) stand out. Just a suggestion. As you have it, it is still a great photo.

For some reason, she doesn't strike me as being very pretty once the veil is off. But I still like the photo. Nice colors and it's very interesting.

I've kept looking at this shot for a couple of days now...it's good but there is something that I couldn't put my finger on. Turns out it was right under my eyes, it's Doug's comment about the white under her eyes. I wish she was looking down & to my right just a touch more. Regardless a good concept & shot.

The background looks created with photoshop to me. Not that this is a problem of any sort to me, only it should integrate with the image better. Maybe the portrait has some noise that wasn't recreated in the background... or maybe it's real but the light had some strange reflection making it look this way.

I find it overall very good but the hand is a distraction to me. It doesn't add anything and detracts from the eyes, so it shouldn't be there imo. Maybe the veil hanging where the hand is would have been very nice instead. Great light overall though, and I still like it. Regards.
