I found this composition in Zion's backcountry a bit refreshing after seeing most of the park's must-see attractions. I was high above this terrace and was drawn to the textures and colors only seen from this angle.

Far away from Zion's main attractions, this compositions included much

of the best Zion has to offer - fascinating sandstone formations and

great fall color.

Your impressions welcome.

Harry, both of your images are fantastic.   I really like the colors, triangular shapes, toylike look of the trees, and background rocks.  The rock formation at the back right almost looks like a cloth tapestry.  Is this one image or several patched together?

Thanks Larry - This is a single image.  It appears to have suffered a tad from jpeg /compression or oversharpening a little.  Scenes with tons of detail and contrasty edges like the leaves don't seem to fare as well with small versions upon upload.  I had a better comp with the tree at the left, but a little blurred from movement during exposure, in the trash can now!

Thnaks, Harry

I find your composition to be very intriguing with multiple textured layers that certainly convey a mountain landscape but with an eyecathing POV and brilliant colors.  Well done, caught my eye right away.

This is outstanding Harry.  I prefer the wide angle view, but both photos are very nice.  I like how the lines on the walls are converging towards the center of the frame.  The triangle pointing up from the bottom of the frame is very nice as well.  The fall colors on the slope really add to the scene.  Well done.  -Scott

That is an absolutely fabulous scene superbly captured by you. I know the ratings are not that important to you but a '7' from me. If I had the time I would probably spend two days at this location.  Congrats on an image that is candy for the eye.

Pause .......

I was in the honeymoon phase , I am still 'in love' but even though I would not change my high opinion of this image  I now ponder if I am over stimulated by the walls. As I think about cropping a little from the top I know that is not going to work because you start chopping off the top of some conifers. Nah! Leave 'as is'.

I have a friend in that part of the world - perhaps I may visit there next November.

PS I like the light on this one!
