Nice composition, the head on shot is very well done. and the difference between your train photo and everyone else's is the b/w effect. The b/w captures the eye. I'm so use to seeing these type of photo's in color. which I'm guilty of myself. Thanks for sharing.      Regards....Robert

Very imposing composition !

(I'm not sure if photoshoping the people out would make this photo (even) better, but if it were me i would try ;-))

Great shot with nice tones and shades. It seems a bit tilted and not leveled properly ( shifted 1-2 degrees to right ), otherwise perfect capture.

My best regards.

Hamid.

The range and diversity of your images lately seem to be a direct reflection of your growth and expertise as a photographer. This is quite magnificent, powerful and dramatic, and not without a certain amount of nostalgia. I might have stepped to the right to get a sense of the length of the train also, and maybe you did, and this is just one of the shots you took of this fine machine. But suffice to say, very well done!

Best Regards

Alf

I'm going to call my son Noah to the computer to give his analysis, being the four year-old train aficionado that he is.

And I quote, "A choo-choo train.  I want another one.  More."

The clouds in the background stir up some imagined action.  Nice work.  We both like it.

It is good to hear your thoughts. I appreciate you taking the time to view my work and comment.

I am especially thrilled with Noah's comment. Thank you! I'll see what I can do.

Hello Linda there is much I like about this photo. The B&W presentation works well as does the POV but I also agree with Alf as to also get a feel of the trains overall size. But really not critical to the overall image. It definitely gives me a nostalgic feeling also. I almost forgot another thing I liked about this is the frame you used. Good work.

This is really magnificent!  The B&W tones and exposure are top-notch!  As much as I like this the way it is, I think it would be more frame-worthy if you had a shot it from another perspective, so as to eliminate the people in the shot.  I actually like the people there, but I think it could have a more classic timeless look if you could do a version with only the train engine.

Thank you all for commenting.

I did photograph this from many different angles. I have one that I want to work on a bit more, but it shows more of the train. I did think about cloning out the people in the background. I think I will do that now. I left them in because I felt that the conductor looking out of his window belongs there, so the passengers and (can't remember the correct name, the men who help people on and off) belong there too.

Love these old steam engines.  I like the black and white.  Would like to see more of the tracks though in a portrait format.
