I detect worry in her gaze, and perhaps some melancholy... A strong capture, but I wonder if you cropped the original image...? The tones are very soft -- did you choose that on purpose, Rajat?

yes it is cropped (its mentioned under Details)... the original is in the camera's native crop ratio of 4:3... i processed the raw... if you click the arrow on the right above you can see the earlier color version of this photograph - one of my earliest posts on PN... this is a candid shot... in the right bottom corner above  you can make out the fringe of the saree worn by another woman who was standing there (one-third of the original frame is occupied by her dress)

the soft tones are my conscious choice
