Kazakh People live as nomad herders in the Altai Mountains of WesternMongolia. Their gers are different and larger than the Mongoliantents. The Kazakh women decorate the interior of their gers withtypical embroideries which they prepare during the long and extremelycold winter months. The skills for this art are passed over fromgeneration to generation.

Thanks for your feedback and rating. Karl

Great documentary shot of the insides of a Kazakh ger. A nice mix of colours, the green of the bed ends adds a balance to it all. The woman's hands really stand out for me in this pic, might have been good to have seen all of her hands. The look like a working man's hands and speak of hard work, which I think you can also see somehow in her face. She looks quite old but I bet that she is half the age that we think she is.  Regards, Erik

a fine exposition of the role of color in their lives... i too wish her entire hands had been in the frame

Thanks Erik and Rajat for your comments. Of course you are right about her hands. I was too much concentrated on her face and the surrounding embroideries. I spoiled a good opportunity but still I like the photo. For many reasons. Karl
