Thoughts?

I had to look at it a while, then it kinda of grew on me. The lips/mouth is pretty detailed. My only question would be what are the black globules between his antennae?

PS Do you lock the mirror up when you shoot these or only if the shutter is below a certain speed?

Yes I do use the mirror lock up fuction on all my macro photo's.

Brother Chris, Excellent, one of your best... black globules and all. Guess the pond has frozen over and you are back to the macro stuff.  Your control of doc and lighting really zinged this one. A 7 for me.

another outstanding piece from you Chris. clearly one can learn and be inspired  a lot from you. One question though. the blurred background seems to have a HDR effect, is this simply the result of editing work?
