Frederick,

She is a pretty girl. Yes ... she does look cold. You have focused well on her eyes and she has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). Her make-up looks good. The background is nicely neutral.

I think she would look better shot at eye level. I don't think it looks natural or good to look up at her. You need a specific reason (intent) for this camera angle to look good.

It is muddy looking. Your whites are not crisp and the blacks look like dark charcoal. You need to increase the contrast. Get your exposition from her face.

You do have some reflections in her eyes, but those don't take the place of good catchlights to give life to her eyes.

The backlighting does provide a nice rim light that helps to separate her nose from her cheek and her cheek from her hair, but overall the lighting on her face is rather flat. Note: I just went back and looked at my lightened version. I think that helps make it look less flat. So ... your lighting is better than I first thought it was -- my bad for not noticing.

Your left and right compositional balance is very good. You could crop some off the bottom to get better top and bottom compositional balance.

I have tried to improve it a bit by a different cropping and trying to get a better exposure. I am afraid I didn't do a very good job of it.

The advertising (www.FrederickDunn.com) is not part of the photograph. It would be quite appropriate to place you name on a mat surrounding the photograph. Any advertising would be better placed on the back of the photograph.

Nice shot,

Mark

I really like the bright back-lighting as I think it makes her stand out. I also like the angle because it makes her portrait not so typical. I like the cropping too because I want to see her back and the way her hair falls. Very well done. Thank you for sharing. :)
